Introduction to the 1st Thailand-China Contemporary Art Exhibition

The  Thailand-China Contemporary Art Exhibition, themed “Silk Road Bloom · Co-create the Future,” will open on 6 August 2026 at the Xi’an Youth Art Museum in Yongyang Park, Hi-tech Zone, Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, China, and run through 31 October. Organized by Glorious Silk Road Embracing Shaanxi and supported by the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Xi’an, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (Chengdu), and the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University, this landmark 87-day exhibition brings together contemporary works by Chinese and Thai artists across an 800 m² venue. Highlights include themed dialogue galleries, an interactive check-in wall, a Thailand Tourism Cooperation Zone, and co-branded creative merchandise. The opening ceremony (15:00, 6 August) will feature a collaborative live-art performance in which participating artists jointly paint a 1.6-metre horse sculpture — a vivid symbol of cross-cultural creativity. Visiting Thai artists will arrive on 4–5 August for a rich programme of artist salons, cultural excursions, and Tang Dynasty-themed experiences through 9 August. A reciprocal exhibition in Bangkok is planned for 2027, and a permanent digital archive will launch at casa-art.space in December 2026, ensuring this cultural dialogue resonates far beyond the gallery walls.
